This year's circus-themed Baking Industry Award (BIA) ceremony was hosted by TV presenter Esther Rantzen on 8th September 2010 and Swissôtel The Howard, London received the award in the category "Innovation" for its TLSee Afternoon Tea.
General Manager Andreas Stys said: "We are enormously proud to be the first hoteliers in the UK to win this award in the BIA history ever and are delighted to be honoured with this acknowledgment with our first application entry."
Derived from the expression TLC – tender loving care – TLSee stands for tea, London, sightseeing.
Special cookie cutters were created by Bompass & Parr and are being used to create 3D chocolates and shortbreads in the shape of London's iconic features and sights. Upon serving, the hotel team member shows the guest around London by explaining the iconic landmarks on the plate.
