London restaurant that delivers ‘a taste of Britain’ marketed for sale by Christie + Co

Bumbles, the London restaurant serving up a ‘taste of Britain’ for around 50 years, is being marketed for sale by Christie + Co.

Located in Buckingham Palace Road, Bumbles is ideally placed for tourist, visitor and commuter trade.

Named after the 'beadle' in Dickens' Oliver Twist, it is one of London's longest surviving eateries. Whilst the restaurant has undergone various changes over the years, the basic principles have remained the same; namely, the serving of first class food at fair prices in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Seating 90-people on ground and basement floors, Bumbles is a popular haunt for local businessmen, politicians and even for Buckingham Palace staff taking a break from Royal duties — who knows, perhaps Her Majesty even puts in the odd request for a 'corgi-bag'?

Katie Wallace of Christie + Co's London Bars and Restaurants Team said: "Bumbles is one of the best-known and most popular restaurants in this vibrant part of the capital. With its combination of British food, extensive wine list and ideal location, it has maintained its status as a very profitable business, and one which will attract great interest from experienced operators and others wishing to plant a flag in London's thriving restaurant sector."

The 20-year renewable lease, from March 2000, and which also includes a shop premises next door, is available for £400,000.
