Last chance to vote

21st July 2009, 9:52am

Earlier this month Gordon Ramsay began the hunt for The F Word Best Local Restaurant, voted for by consumers. Due to an overwhelming response, the deadline has been extended.

The search supports the launch of Ramsay's new Channel 4 series. Consumers can vote on the Channel 4 website where they will then have the opportunity to apply for a seat in the F Word kitchen.

Following the enthusiastic response, the deadline has been extended to midnight on Sunday 26 July.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 says: "The response has been extraordinary: we've had thousands of nominations for some fantastic restaurants. Because hundreds of news ones are coming in every day, we feel it's only fair to give people more time to have their say."

The voting criteria still stands: the restaurant must be independent – so no chains; have at least 10 seats, eliminating takeaways; and must be able to provide two courses for two people at a cost of under £50 excluding wine.

The best restaurants will be featured in the new series.
