The FSA (Food Standards Agency) rewarded the venture at a ceremony to mark the national launch of the FSA's new Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS).
The scheme, which launched last week (30 November) at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, was attended by Mayor of Dartford, Cllr Pat Coleman, Tim Hollands, property manager at Bluewater, Cllr Jeremy Kite, head of Dartford Council and Jeff Rooker, chair of the FSA.
Fernando Bacchiega, general manager of Bluewater La Tasca who picked up the award, said: "We are delighted to be one of the first restaurants to be rated with a score of 5 in the country. The scheme is excellent news for customers and responsible restaurant operators.
"It means customers will now have a consistent and easily recognisable rating system giving them greater knowledge when choosing the restaurant to dine in."
The FHRS is a national scheme, replacing various different locally operated food hygiene rating schemes across the local authorities in the UK. This new unified approach offers consumers the chance to choose the safest places to eat or do their food shopping.
