Up and down the country customers will be able to try the new menu as they celebrate the national day with Spanish style parties in the restaurants.
Chefs spent weeks touring regions of Spain to source dishes and authentic flavours for the menu. From Seville to Marbella and from Mallorca to Basque, they were inspired by combinations of flavours and variations of classic Spanish dishes unique to each region.
New dishes added to the menu include Estofado Vasco', a Basque-style beef stew, and 'Pollo Marbella', a creamy chicken and chorizo dish packed sweet peppers, onion and a generous Spanish sized dash of paprika have been introduced.
Others include melon and Serrano ham and two tasty vegetable tapas dishes, 'Verduras Fritas', crispy fried slices of courgette, and 'Champiňones Rellenos', whole roasted mushrooms stuffed with slow-cooked sweet pepper and onion salsa and topped with Cheddar cheese.
Throughout August a successful trial of the new menu took place at five La Tasca restaurants around the country. This process resulted in a customer favourite 'Cordero de Mallorca', re-joining the Winter menu, but this time with a twist. The new and improved Mallorcan style lamb stew is now made with sultanas and prunes, in a rich red wine & brandy sauce.
Perry Huntley, La Tasca's head of food said: "Each region of Spain has its own unique culture, traditions and tastes that set it apart from its neighbour. We wanted to reflect that in this new menu bringing different Spanish regions to life through the best way we can – on our menu. We're really proud of the results, bringing Spain that bit closer than you think."
