Key industry experts gather to discuss hotel revenue trends

16th October 2009, 11:43am

Warren Mandelbaum, head of revenue management at Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants, is just one of the hospitality industry finance experts taking part in a Panel Forum on 'Revenue Trends' at the 4th Annual British Association of Hospitality Accountants Conference and Exhibition (BAHA) next month.

Mandelbaum (pictured) – together with panellists Jonathan Langston, managing director of TRI Hospitality Consulting; and Robert Barnard, partner for Hotel Consultancy Services at PKF – will be examining 'Revenue Trends' and the value of revenue management skills in the current difficult economic climate, under the chairmanship of Professor Peter Jones MBE, advisor, Edge Foundation.

BAHA chief executive Carl Weldon said: "BAHA provides the only industry specific hospitality finance education programme; and the promotion of best practice Revenue Management skills in the hospitality industry is one of our priority concerns at BAHA.

"Toward this end, in conjunction with Oxford Brookes University we are currently designing a new and unique second route through our Education and Training Programme expressly for Revenue Managers."

As in previous years, the 2009 BAHA Conference – entitled 'The Essential Toolkit for Managing the Bottom Line' – will be supported by an exhibition of IT suppliers, providing delegates with a 'one stop shop' to view the latest technologies relevant to the hospitality industry.

The latest cutting edge Information Technology (IT) will be one of the key topics and issues at this year's annual event. Other highlights include the 'BAHA Classic Interview', which this year will be with one of the world's leading hoteliers – Meinhard Huck, President of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts. There also will be an environmental Panel Forum, entitled 'Green and CSR Impact – Responsibilities, Costs and the Bottom Line'.

The event will be held on 19 November at the Sofitel Hotel, London Heathrow at Terminal 5.
