Jason Atherton to run for Hospitality Action

29th January 2009, 12:36pm

Jason Atherton, executive chef of London's restaurant Maze will run the Flora London Marathon with proceeds from his fundraising efforts going to Hospitality Action.

The funds raised by first-time marathon runner Jason will directly benefit the charity whose work relies entirely on fundraising and donations.

Jason said he is excited about the 26-mile challenge: "Whilst I have always enjoyed keeping fit, the Flora London marathon is a new challenge for me, one which I will take on with relish. I am preparing for it by training up to five times a week and Gordon (Ramsay) has been giving me some good advice to pace myself at 16-21 miles, as that's where most people hit the 'wall'.

"I have actively supported Hospitality Action for the past two years as it's a charity close to my heart. I am passionate about the fantastic work that it does and the lifeline that it offers to those within the industry."
