Hartley wins Olive Barnett title

In House Catering's Toby wins Olive Barnett Award

General catering manager Toby Hartley of niche London-based contractor In House Catering has scooped this year's Olive Barnett Award title.

Hartley picked up the ward at London's five-star Langham Hotel earlier this week.

The winning prize was a three-year grant of £1,000 a year, as well as a week at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, Switzerland, to take part in the Hospitality Management Summer 2007 course.

Hartley said: "Entering was a career challenge and the experience of working with like-minded people has been fantastic."

In second place came Sabrina Hencke, graduate trainee manager at the Crowne Plaza, St James. Following in joint third place came Christina Heindl, restaurant manager at the Swissotel The Howard, on the Strand, and Marta Klehr, at The Berkeley.

The competition was set up in 1975 by Savoy Gastronomes to honour the work of customer-facing hospitality staff and is now run by industry careers body Springboard UK.
