Déjà Vu – located within Milford Hall, South Milford – is the first phase of owner Akadus Ali's plans to breathe new life into the imposing building and transform it into a venue that he hopes will draw in customers from a wide geographical area.
The restaurant, which will seat 150 people at any one time, is the fifth owned by Ali, who began his career in catering business almost 30 years ago. It will serve a variety of dishes from across the Indian subcontinent; all made using fresh produce.
He said: "The opening of Déjà Vu will mark the first phase of the transformation of this wonderful building, which we are investing heavily in.
"We are in a prime position with the A1 just a few minutes away and in close proximity to a number of villages and town including Garforth, Kippax, Aberford, Selby and Tadcaster.
"Our opening has caused great excitement in the local area and everyone is pleased to see this building being brought back to life after five years.
"All our dishes are freshly prepared and originate from all across the India subcontinent and they will appeal to all tastes. This is my fifth restaurant and my most exciting project to date."
Ali added: "Phase two will see us refurbishing the upper floors, to create a first class venue for weddings, dinner dances, birthday parties and Christmas parties.
"We are set in extensive grounds which can also accommodate a marquee. There is also plenty of room for parking too."
Deja Vu will be open seven a days a week from 5.30pm to 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday and 5.30pm to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
