Getting Batter and Batter

5th January 2009, 11:16am

Despite being synonymous with quality seafood across the board, Young's is not about to sit on its laurels and has dived into previously unchartered waters to give chefs better made, even better tasting products to tempt customers.

Young's Chip Shop for Chefs offers caterers something unique, not only in terms of flavour, delivery and flexibility, but in its authenticity, straight from your local chippy…

Young's Chip Shop – the caterer's choice
With a crispy, bubbly batter you simply won't find anywhere else on the market, Young's Chip Shop for Chefs skinless and boneless products are made from 100% prime cod, haddock or Alaska Pollock fillets, and provide both superior cost and portion control.

Young's new Jumbo Battered Cod Fillets, in particular, are truly something else, appealing to caterers who want to spoil their customers with the biggest, most authentic tasting battered fish ever and, in turn, net huge profits.

Other unique selling points of the range include Young's three way 'fry, grill or oven bake' cooking option, making the range extremely versatile for every type of catering outlet, from the pub channel to the cost sector, without compromising on quality.

"Fish is the fastest growing centre of plate protein1 and caterers need a great value, quality product which delivers consistent plate coverage time and time again," said Simon Clarke, Young's Foodservice Group Director. "Chip Shop for Chefs is the perfect solution and, furthermore, through product development, the range is now even better tasting and healthier too, with less than five percent saturated fat when ovenbaked*."

All products in the range also carry the Young's Fish for Life mark. Good provenance is therefore assured - an important consideration for a growing number of caterers.

Simon added: "By building on the knowledge of end consumer demand for 'chip-shop' style products and adapting the offer for foodservice, we have created a classic win-win solution."

For children, Young's has developed Chip Shop Jumbo Battered Cod Fillet Fingers (36 x 70g), double sized prime fillets of cod wrapped in the crispy bubbly batter. Parents are also safe in the knowledge their children are receiving a meal with no artificial colours and preservatives.
