Fun Fair Brewery buys first pub

4th June 2010, 10:53am

Acting on behalf of private owners, Christie + Co has sold the freehold of the Chequers Inn near Nottingham, to first-time buyers, the Fun Fair Brewery Company.

The two-storey pub comprises a 35-cover main bar, a five-cover snug, 10-space car park, beer patio, a storage shed and three-bedroom owner's accommodation.

The pub, which is reopening by the new owners today (Friday 4th June), was sold for an undisclosed sum off a guide price of £260,000.

Nicholas Baker, director at Christie Finance, said: "It has been a pleasure dealing with Fun Fair Brewery. They had been looking for the right premises for a long time and I am delighted to have been able assist in funding the deal through our contacts with a major high street lender."

Ben Freckingham, associate director at Christie + Co, added: "The Chequers Inn is one of a number of closed pubs we have sold recently for continued pub/restaurant use. These sales demonstrate that, despite regular reports of pub closures, there is still ongoing demand from existing and prospective publicans who recognise the opportunities afforded by closed pubs, which represent good value for money in the present climate."
