Franchise opportunities abound as US eatery Denny's plans launch into UK

The American based franchised family restaurant Denny's is to open in the UK and is promising that new lower corporation tax could bring “big incentives” for new franchisees to expand rapidly in Britain and eventually offer thousands of jobs.

The table-service eatery which was founded in 1953 and has a system turnover of more than $2.25 billion, has chosen the UK as its latest expansion target as it "strives to reinforce its title as the worldwide leader in full service family dining 24 hours a day."

Denny's is already planning to launch franchises across the UK within two years, encouraged by the arrival of the new lower corporation tax and the company's perception of growing business confidence.

The brand has 1550 outlets worldwide with 90% of them franchised and the company says it is initially looking for both area and local franchisees to run up to 30 restaurants in Manchester and a similar number around the West Midlands.

Denny's is already planning to launch franchises across the UK within two years. It is expected the move will create hundreds of jobs initially, and within two years, thousands.

Denny's says it prides itself on personal table service, with a comprehensive menu featuring breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night options, all at good value prices.

The company operates a selection of unit types to cater for multiple demographic groups. In the U.S. Denny's enjoys nearly 100 percent brand awareness and will be considering the need for smaller outlets and "add-on" take-away service for some locations in the UK.

Denny's' Steve Dunn commented: "Following the recent emergency budget and the lowering of corporation tax, we see a bright future in the UK.

"This is a big incentive for our new franchisees, who will enjoy one of the best known restaurant brands in the world – a brand which is a long-term success story worldwide and now a corporation tax rate in the UK that will encourage expansion."

It's great news to hear that Denny's is coming to the UK, especially the Midlands. I'm looking forward to the Grand Slam Breakfast already.
