Eye-catching beer mats, posters, t-shirts and table talkers offering novel techniques such as The Cobra Strike, Elephant's Trunk and Sneaky Tiger form part of the UK-wide campaign, encouraging publicans to spice up their snack menus with exotic Asian flavours.
Snacks are, after all, predicted to be the way forward for pubs wanting to boost spend, especially when you consider that 50 percent of people spend less than one hour in the pub and 40 percent of people go to the pub 'for a quiet drink' and don't intend to have a meal1.
Nic Townsend, marketing manager for Farm Frites, added that 25 percent of people go to the pub at lunch time to socialise with their friends, another ideal snacking and sharing opportunity2. "While a huge proportion simply don't want a big meal, they are open to having a snack, which, when added to a drinks order, is the perfect way to increase spend."
"Whilst developing our new super spicy Curry Chips, which is coated with a curry seasoning, we looked at the types of food consumers were enjoying and, while traditional British outlets remain popular, people have become more cosmopolitan and are attracted to diverse tastes when eating out3.
"Combine this with the fact the number of consumers who have visited an Indian restaurant in the past three months is up 2.5 percent to 23 percent on two years ago, it made sense to use our expertise to create a tongue-tingling chip with an authentic Asian slant4. Taking all of these facts into consideration our new Spicy Chip allows publicans to offer a great bar snack with a range of dips such as raita, chutneys etc;"
Publicans are invited to claim their free point of sale kit with every purchase of two cases of Farm Frites Curry Chips and to kick-start the nationwide and are also being offered the chance to win some great prizes as well as in pub instant wins for their customers.
