Noble Russell brings bistro style to the newly opened Hereford Road restaurant in Notting Hill Gate…

Furniture design specialists Noble Russell explain how they have created an intimate mood and luxurious feel throughout the restaurant.

The simplicity, honesty and quality of the food is reflected throughout the restaurant with its comfortable and straight forward design. An emphasis on seasonality is also echoed in the interior of this 70 cover establishment. It is light and airy in the summertime with its butcher's window open on to the street. In winter, the open kitchen at the front of the restaurant creates a warm intimate setting.

Noble Russell's Director, Jerry Russell comments: "We are delighted to work once again in collaboration with Andy Martin Associates on this latest project. We were chosen to support them as they knew we could deliver the bespoke design details and quality finishes that would realise their warm and stylish vision - all in just a short eight week turn around."

The restaurant's intimate mood has been enhanced by creating bespoke furniture that delivers a luxurious feel through the use of rich colours and high quality materials. On the restaurant's lower ground floor a series of burgundy booths have been produced in soft aniline leather with fixed sprung seating and stained oak detailing. The seating is perfectly complemented by individual stained oak tables with a rounded corner design.

Aniline dyed leather was chosen for all the seating as it provides a glove soft texture which brings a luxurious feel to the furniture. The dye enhances the subtle variations of each hide bringing its own unique qualities to the seating. As the leather is very much in its natural state it will age gracefully with use adding to the restaurant's relaxed feel.

All of the bespoke furniture features intricate lipping cut out of solid oak. The lipping perfectly complements the restaurant's fumigated oak floors and fret cut bronze ceiling panels, which all together create a very warm and inviting atmosphere.

On the ground floor a series of six bespoke leather booths has been built with unique sinuous curved detailing and matching round dark oak stained tables. Each booth can seat six and is situated at the back of the restaurant to offer even greater privacy. LED spot lights sunk into the back capping of the seating act as 'up lighters' to the wall behind enhancing the room's intimate mood.

Jerry Russell continues: "We very much enjoyed realising Andy Martin Associates' relaxed yet stylish vision for Hereford Road. I'm sure it will bring a true neighbourhood feel to Notting Hill Gate by offering simple yet innovative British cooking in a warm informal atmosphere."
