Allen Townsend prepared for the challenge
Allen Townsend has been chosen by the Craft Guild of Chefs to compete for England against some of the top chefs from 28 countries worldwide.
He flies out today (Wednesday 17th November) and has been entered into the Class B category, meaning he will have to prepare both a five course gourmet and a three course vegetarian meal.
He commented on his involvement in the contest: "I feel immensely privileged to be asked to represent my country at the world's largest international culinary competition.
"I'm looking forward to testing my skills against the best in the world and representing Hampshire to the best of my ability on the world stage."
