It heralds the return of renowned restaurateur Ross Arceri to Tyneside to run the 270 seater venue which opened to the public this week, following a VIP party studded with stars such as special guest Alan Shearer.
Ross who is well known for running Uno's on the Quayside – a famed haunt of celebrities over the years – and also Scalinis in Jesmond, has returned from retirement in Monaco to run the new eatery, which is renamed Rosco's, with his wife Dawn.
Designers have transformed the interior with dark leather walls, polished wood and moody lighting.
Ross Arceri of Rosco's said: "This is not an everyday bar, lounge or restaurant - Rosco's promises to be a hot favourite for people who enjoy great food surrounded by style. I am delighted to be back in Newcastle."
Absolute Leisure, which was set up by Michael Quadrini, operates an estate of businesses across the North East, including the Lounge pub and nightclub in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 19-room New Angel Hotel in Whitby, and two Purple Door branded bars in Kingston upon Hull and Doncaster.
Christie + Co was appointed by Begbies Traynor in May this year to sell the majority of Absolute Leisure's estate.
Mark Worley at Christie + Co's Newcastle Office, said: "We are delighted to sell such a high-profile Newcastle restaurant and see it brought back to life by one of the region's most notable and successful restaurant figures. We wish Ross all the best with this new venture."
