The group, which also owns restaurant chains Tootsies and The Real Greek, said that continued growth resulted in six new GBK restaurants opening in addition to another two Real Greeks.
However, openings will not be rapidly accelerated during 2010 despite the Board saying it remains positive about the mid-market prospects for eating out. Instead, a gradual expansion programme will be initiated.
David Page, executive chairman for Clapham House Group, said: "Despite consumer confidence in the UK being fragile and the trading outlook remaining uncertain, our sales in the first quarter of FY10 across the Group are 6% higher than in the same period last year.
"We remain positive about the mid term market prospects for the UK eating out market and in particular the future expansion of GBK across the UK."
