Cinnamon Kitchen recognised for its talents outside the kitchen

27th August 2010, 10:05am

The public has awarded the Indian restaurant Cinnamon Kitchen with the title of “Hederol Kichens Top Talent 2010” after beating competing restaurants in performing a fun-filled challenge.

Members of staff from the restaurant industry took the chance to shrug off their aprons and free themselves from pots and pans as they showed off their talents outside of the kitchen for the competition.

The restaurant, which is owned by celebrity chef Vivek Singh, picked up the award after head chef Abdul Yaseen joined his kitchen team in a rendition of a Bollywood classic.

And the event saw other competitors make an effort to entertain with competing restaurant members donning dancing shoes, microphones and even attempting acts using fire-breathing apparatus.

Cinnamon Kitchen was voted number one and has picked up a £1000 cash prize for its efforts and is unofficially describing itself as "the UK's most talented restaurant."

Runners up for the award were Jack Sutton, chef of fish & chip restaurant, The Fish Club, who entertained his audience by playing on his DJ decks while cooking a calamari dish.

Then came Ou Sampiseth of traditional French bistro Gastros who treated his audience to a display of his "impressive" break-dancing moves.

Sutton and Sampiseth also picked up £1000 respectively for entertaining the public as part of Kitchen's Top Talent. The competition offers three members of the hospitality industry the chance to win £1000 each by submitting video clips of themselves performing their top talents outside of the kitchen.

The public is then given the chance to vote for their favourite clips in order to establish the overall winners.

The campaign is supported by P&G Professional's Hederol, a long-lasting washing-up solution that is made for the trade, which is described as being ideal for busy restaurants and cafes.

Nick Beresford, managing director for P&G Professional said: "Our campaign is about injecting a sense of fun into essential kitchen tasks such as washing up.

"We all know about high profile celebrity chefs, but there are so many unsung heroes in our restaurants who work long and hard to keep the industry going from strength to strength.

"Kitchen's Top Talent is about recognising these vital members of the industry by giving them a moment in the spotlight."
