Cinnamon Club nominated in World Food Awards

12th October 2009, 3:53pm

The award-winning Cinnamon Club restaurant has been shortlisted in the nominations for the inaugural World Food Awards to be held at the end of this month.

Other nominees in the restaurant category are Haandi, an Indian eatery in London's Kensington and Haozhan just off Shaftesbury Avenue.

Sandwich-chain Subway is nominated for its collaboration with Dragon's Den star Levi Roots and the marketing campaign for the Reggae Reggae sub.

Brands and products also up for awards include Tesco, Asda, Levi Roots' Reggae Reggae Sauce and Veetee.

Winners are announced on Saturday 31st October at London's Park Lane Hilton and the judging panel is made up of celebrity chefs Ainsley Harriott and Anjum Anand; David Moore, of BBC's The Restaurant; Simon Numphud, Head of AA Services; Tony Matharu, Managing Director of Grange Hotels; Humayun Hussain, Editor of Tandoori Magazine; Kirti Mistry of BNP Paribas Fortis Bank and David Jago of Mintel.

Harry Dulai, of Surya Foods, co-organisers of the event with Sony Entertainment Television (SET) Asia said: "Our aim is to ensure that the ethnic food industry is recognised as an important sector within the UK food market and to move away from the 'corner shop' mentality that is often associated with it. This is simply not the case.

"World food is now a thriving and fast-paced industry that is crossing over into mainstream markets and we are proud to be working with Sony on this event."
