Christie + Co markets popular Olive Branch Bistros

23rd March 2010, 11:10am

Acting on behalf of owners Mr Stuart Thom and Dr Kerry Kirk, Christie + Co has been instructed to market the leasehold interests of the two successful Olive Branch bistro businesses in Edinburgh.

Set up by husband and wife team Stuart and Kerry in 2003, as an all day dining experience, the two outlets are the original Olive Branch Broughton Bistro in the heart of the city's Broughton Street area, and the Bruntsfield Bistro in Brunstfield.

Located on the corner of Broughton Street and Broughton Place, the 37-cover Broughton Bistro occupies a dominant trading position, with six huge floor-to-ceiling picture windows. The restaurant includes a neighbouring former bookshop property, which is currently fitted out in a shell-like state and could be used for a sandwich bar/takeaway. Offers of over £185,000 are sought for the leasehold interest of the restaurant.

The Bruntsfield Bistro is a 70-cover restaurant split over two floors, with a compact catering kitchen and downstairs preparation kitchen. Offers of over £95,000 are sought for the leasehold of the bistro.

The properties are available as a pair or individually.

Barry McNeil, Associate Director at Christie + Co, said: "Most diners in Edinburgh will be very familiar with the Olive Branch concept, which has built up a strong following over the last seven years. Now in a completely different move, Stuart and Kerry wish to relocate with their family to another part of the UK. As a consequence, the leasehold interests of Broughton Place and Bruntsfield are available on the open market.

"We believe this represents a fantastic opportunity for a motivated purchaser or well-established operator to acquire one or two well-sited and popular restaurants. Both are flexible and prominent restaurant spaces with layouts that would suit a variety of different international cuisines. They would be an asset to any restaurateur's portfolio or to any operator wishing to expand.
