After that period, customers will be able to enjoy a V.A.T. tax break every Monday in January in the restaurants and from February onwards VAT will remain at 17.5%.
Zilli commented on the freeze: "In the last few years customers have had a really rough ride. This new rise in V.A.T. is going to see them get hit again. So at my Soho restaurants, Zilli Fish and Zilli Green, from Friday 7th - Friday 14th January, we've decided to not charge any V.A.T. to our diners and from then on we will absorb the cost of the 2.5% tax increase ourselves so that people aren't put out of pocket and can still enjoy a few pleasures in life like going out for a nice meal."
Several other restaurants are also committed to beating the tax in London and have frozen V.A.T. These include The Drunken Monkey, The Red Fort and The Chesterfield.
