Carluccio's reports strong growth

4th February 2008, 11:53am

Carluccio's Italian restaurant group has reported an 18% rise in like-for-like turnover for the 16 weeks to 13 January.

The group described its Christmas trading as 'firm despite discernable evidence of consumer pressure', compared to last year. Encouragingly, trading since Christmas has been in line with the Board's expectations.

Carluccio's plans to open three more sites this year – in Heathrow's Terminal 5 by March, St Pancras International station by April, and Cambridge, which is expected to open towards the end of the current financial year.

In addition, two sites have already been secured and announced for next year – the first in Leicester and the second in Bristol.

The company currently operates 34 restaurants.
