Here are five tips for restaurants to get the most out of social media:
Get started. If you don't have accounts set them up. For Facebook add all relevant information and include photos. To begin with set up a Profile as well as Page. A Profile allows you to invite people whereas a Page is more passive – you have to wait for people to become your fan.
Add the Facebook and Twitter logos to your website and link them to your accounts. Also add the Facebook "Like" button to other pages on your site like images of your restaurant or the restaurant menu.
Interesting Content. Don't bombard people with special offers and promotions. Be interesting and funny.
Regular updates. You should be posting every other day, as a guide but more is better. You can use Tweet Deck to allow you to write multiple posts and set it so they get posted at a future date of your choosing.
Engage with people. Start conversations online – they are real people, treat them as such!
