Calling chefs for one pot cook off

10th March 2009, 12:10pm

Domestic master chefs are being urged once again to take part in the annual One Pot Cook Off at The Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel Golf & Spa.

The Hill Valley Hotel is sponsoring the second One Pot Cook Off on March 14, to help launch the Chester Food & Drink Festival 2009.

Entrants will be competing to win a complimentary weekend for two at The Hill Valley Hotel, near Chester and have their dish showcased at the Chester Food & Drink Festival at Chester Racecourse.

Finalists will be shortlisted and will have the chance to display their culinary skills in a Cook Off at the Hill Valley Hotel, with the winner chosen by a panel of judges including Chester Food and Drink Festival chairman Stephen Wundke, Jane Casson from Made in Cheshire and last year's winner of the cook off Bhupinder Virdee-Lace.

Kate Halewood, General Manager for The Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa, said: "Competitors can only use one pot or pan to cook their dish, which must be influenced by traditional British ingredients. We are encouraging residents who must live in Cheshire, to get involved and get their entries in."

All ingredients will be supplied complimentary on request by the hotel.

The meal should not take any longer than 30 minutes to prepare and 30 minutes to cook.

Competitors must not work as a chef in a professional capacity and be aged over 18.

If you are a domestic Cheshire resident cook, who wants to compete against local residents for their dish to appear at Chester Food and Drink Festival then contact Kate Halewood on 01948 660700, or email paula.bullock@macdonald-hotels.co.uk for terms and conditions of entry.
