CAMRA relaunches its Heritage Pubs website

5th August 2010, 10:29am

CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, has relaunched its Heritage Pubs website which covers some of the country's best historic pub interiors.

The updated site has many more photos and further information on CAMRA's campaigning work to save Britain's iconic pubs.

In addition are full details and photos of 'Britain's Real Heritage Pubs'.  CAMRA has marked the launch of the new website by picking out a Top Ten of examples from what is already the 'creme de la crème' of Britain's historic pub interiors:

Sun, Leintwardine, Herefordshire
Philharmonic, Liverpool
Circus Tavern, Manchester
Black Friar, London EC4
Kings Head, Laxfield, Suffolk
Bleeding Wolf, Scholar Green, Cheshire
Golden Cross, Cardiff
Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow
Bridge, Topsham, Devon
Cittie of Yorke, London WC1

Some of the most updated features of the website include regional guides, information about the various types of heritage pub, advice on preserving heritage pubs and getting them listed.

Paul Ainsworth, chair of Pub Heritage Group, said: "Our Heritage Pubs website has been very popular since we first launched it five years ago. I hope that the new improved version will stimulate even more interest in the wonderful variety of historic pub interiors which can still be found up and down the country.

"The pub is one of the great British traditions yet there has been so much change within them in recent decades that precious few still retain truly historic interiors - and the few that are left are indeed precious and deserving of being looked after. We hope our new website will encourage people to seek out and visit them. Enjoy!"
