Results show that Brits have swapped romantic gestures, trips and pampering for smaller treats like buying a round or sharing a tub of good quality ice cream at home.
The top list of indulgences for 2009 includes having a meal out in a restaurant, getting a takeaway at the weekend, and getting a round in at the bar.
Some 84% of the country spends between £1 and £100 on smaller treats every month in total to cheer themselves up, amounting to a staggering £18 billion spent on luxuries each year.
Other figures found that almost half of all Brits feel better when they've treated themselves to a small purchase, and over a third of the population feel small luxuries are more important, and make them feel better since the recession.
