Legacy Hotels and Resorts is to operate the AA four-star, Llangoed Hall Hotel in the Brecon Beacons.
The 17th century country house venue was owned by Sir Bernard Ashley until his death aged 82 in February this year.
It is now owned by his estate, who have brought in the experienced Legacy Hotels and Resorts to oversee the operations at the 23-bedroom hotel in Llyswen in Mid Wales. The property, which boasts two private helipads along with organic and herb gardens, is set in the heart of the Welsh countryside.
Sir Bernard, the husband of Laura Ashley, was her business partner in their worldwide furnishings and textiles business.
Andy Townsend, chief executive officer of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, who grew up on the Welsh coast in Aberdyfi, said, the Llangoed Hall Hotel was the company's eighth hotel in Wales.
"Sir Bernard bought the hotel in the early 1990s as an idyllic country retreat and he ran it as if people were arriving at his own house," said Andy.
"It doesn't have a traditional reception desk since guests are greeted by porters and check in takes place in the front lounge.
"Since our arrival at the Llangoed Hall Hotel we have already been assessed by the AA and obtained four AA stars with an 85% merit score and maintained the hotels two Rosettes for food which is a tremendous start."
