Brakspear supports tenants with beer festival kit

26th August 2009, 11:17am

Around 20 Brakspear pubs are staging beer festivals this summer with the support of a festival kit supplied by the pub company as a way of helping them to draw customers into their gardens through the summer.

Each pub receives the kit for the duration of their festival, which is usually held over a weekend.

Supplied free of charge, kits comprise branded gazebos, stillages, banners, posters and one-third pint glasses.

Participating pubs are allowed to choose from an expanded beer list of around 50 different cask ales from large and small brewers around the country.

Tom Davies, Brakspear Pub Company commercial director said: "The combination of great cask ale, pub gardens and some sunshine has prove a powerful draw, giving customers another reason to come to a Brakspear pub over the summer. This is the first time we've helped our pubs to run Beer Festivals in this way and those that have participated have seen sales grow over the duration of their Festival. It's also a way for them to build a lasting reputation locally as a great place to enjoy cask ale."

Stephen Smith, tenant at the Queens Oak in Finchampstead, near Wokingham has already received his kit and said: "We were delighted with the Beer Festival kit supplied by Brakspear, which enabled us to put on a fantastic week-end event for our customers.

"We built other elements around it, including a hog roast, a bouncy castle and live music on the Saturday evening. Despite the rather disappointing weather, the Beer Festival definitely brought customers into the pub to try the different beers and the third-pint glasses were very popular."
