Brakspear pubs hold beer 'elections' for National Cask Ale Week

23rd March 2010, 9:24am

A total of 50 Brakspear pubs will be holding beer 'elections' from next week to coincide with National Cask Ale Week.

Drinkers will be able to vote for any of the12 permanent beers on the Brakspear cask list, detailed on the voting slip and displayed on a 'beer map' in the pub. Since the list's expansion last month, this now includes long-standing favourites Brakspear Bitter and Oxford Gold, as well as others from the Marston's portfolio such as Pedigree and Jennings Sneck Lifter.

To encourage customers to cast their vote, everyone who does so will be entered into a draw to win the chance to become Head Brewer for a day at the Wychwood Brewery in Witney, where Brakspear beers are brewed.

Tom Davies, Brakspear commercial director, said: "Many of our customers are passionate about cask ale and will relish the opportunity to influence which brands are available in their local. The ballot boxes and other POS will create a sense of 'theatre', and no doubt some lively debate, in our pubs during Cask Ale Week and beyond."

National Cask Ale Week is taking place from 29 March to 5 April.
