Belgique to open 11th site in Canary Wharf

2nd August 2010, 8:01am

Continental style bakery and delicatessen Belgique café is to open its 11th outlet in Canary Wharf.

The brand has taken a 30-year sub-lease for a riverside corner site on Westferry Circus from Prezzo, close to the Four Seasons Hotel and Gaucho Grill. Davis Coffer Lyons (DCL) brokered the deal.

Owned by husband and wife team Igor & Ann Bekaert, Belgique opened its first outlet in 2005 and has since expanded to ten sites in the Home Counties, recently also starting to offer franchises of the brand.

The concept took on its 10th site from Gondola Group in April after the Crouch End site had been placed on the market through DCL.

Belgique offers seven concepts under one roof – bakery, patisserie, chocolaterie, coffeeshop, tearoom, delicatessen and celebration cakes.
