Apex Hotels group is set to invest £60 million for the development of its third London City hotel.

Situated just off Fleet Street, the landmark building will be converted into a four-star hotel with 170 bedrooms.

Norman Springford, chairman of Apex Hotels, said: "We feel we can create something special at Serjeants' Inn, and are grateful to be given the opportunity from the Inner Temple to allow us to do so."

In addition to this latest acquisition, Apex are adding a further 49 bedrooms to the Apex City London Hotel on Seething Lane which is scheduled to be completed in September.

Further work is also underway on a conversion of a former office block in Copthall Avenue, in the heart of London, into a four-star, 89-bedroomed hotel. This establishment is due for completion in September.

These latest acquisitions are set to bring the group's portfolio to a total of eight.
