AFW launches new training initiative

The Academy of Food and Wine (AFW) has launched a new training initiative – Academy Advantage –offering their staff tips, hints and information that can be immediately put into practice.

The training scheme provides 90 minute masterclasses for the on-trade on topics including upselling, wine list development and customer service skills.

 

The aim of these bite-size classes is to equip delegates with skills that they can put into action immediately. They are designed for groups of no more than 20.

 

Each class will be held at Jumeriah Lowndes Hotel in London and will cost £50 per masterclass for AFW members and £75 for non-members.To book places contact the Academy office on 020 8661 4646 or email Nicky@acfws.org.

  

The AFW is in conjunction with the UK Guild of Restaurant Service and the UK Guild of Wine Service.

 The Academy Advantages schedule, headed by Peter McCombie MW and Philip Goodband MW, follows:

 Monday 4 February

Popping the Cork – wine list development, creating the 'perfect' list

 

Monday 11 February

Upselling Uncorked – how to sell more premium wine

 

Monday 17 March

First impressions count – customer service

 

Monday 31 March

Be better – be brilliant – Building and motivating your team

 

Monday 7 April

Charm school – conflict resolution and how to deal with customer issues

 

Monday 14 April

Before and After – Upselling on aperitifs and digestifs
