And the 2011 edition of the AA restaurant Guide marks its 18th year as a "stand-alone guide advising the British public on the best places to eat" - from country inns on wild moors to city-centre hotels in shopping attraction locations.
The AA Restaurant Guide features over 1,9000 establishments ranging from "lively bistros on local high streets to "destination restaurants of International standing" - with each graded from one to five rosettes by an AA inspector.
Each restaurant entry comes with detailed, clear descriptions of the venue and the type of food served at that particular eaterie - this year including new entry Galvin La Chapelle.
The guide also features details of the AA Restaurant of the Year awards for England, Scotland, Wales and London.
The AA pub Guide, also launching today, features over 2,000 pubs and hostelries from "cosy coach-house inns to smart gastro-pubs, all promising warm and welcoming hospitality, good food and refreshments ranging from real ales to "decent" wines.
Each entry in the latest AA Pub Guide features updated details on prices, opening times, leisure facilities, directions and web addresses alongside photographs and the famous AA Rosettes and Stars indicators.
The AA Chef's Chef award, voted for by AA Rosette awarded chefs, is included along with the AA Wine Awards for England, Scotland and Wales.
Wiinners will be announced at today's Hospitality Awards along with the AA Pubs of the Year for England, Wales and Scotland Award.
In addition to the restaurants reviews, the AA Restaurant Guide also includes articles about the UK dining scene including a piece that examines the rise of the 24/7 lifestyle with open all hours shopping and how it has led to the emergency of all day dining.
Information on the importance of good service and the overall dining experience is also featured.
And the AA Pub Guide provides more than just a guide to good places to drink too with pub-related articles ideal for pub enthusiasts including a look at the evolution of the dining pub and the gin revolution.
Each AA guide is priced at £14.99 and is available from www.theaa.com/shop.
