Award-winning tea: Lemongrass, Ginger and Citrus Fruits

The London Tea Company wins two gold stars at the Great Taste Awards

23rd August 2010, 12:52pm

The London Tea Company, which says it is recognised for “bringing organic and Fairtrade beverages into the mainstream” has scooped two gold stars at the Great Taste Awards, which they call “the acknowledged benchmark” for speciality food and drink.

Green Tea, Mango and Ginger and a tisane with Lemongrass, Ginger and Citrus Fruits have all come up winners in the competition. The Great Taste Awards judges described the winning teas as "bright, refreshing with a balanced flavour" and "very lemony on the nose, lovely fragrant, refreshing citrus flavour from the lemongrass" respectively.

The winning teas, like the entire range, are described as being "packed with antioxidants" thanks to their authentic leaves, herbs, fruits and spice pieces for subtle rounded flavours that are refreshing to the palate.

The Great Taste Awards judges described the winning teas as "bright, refreshing with a balanced flavour" and "very lemony on the nose, lovely, fragrant, (with a) refreshing citrus flavour from the lemongrass".

Managing director for The London Tea Company, Dinuk Dissanayake said: "We are naturally thrilled that once again our teas have received recognition from The Guild of Fine Food, the organisers of the Great Taste Awards.

"The much sought after GREAT TASTE sticker is a mark of superior quality that is recognised by food service operators, retailers and consumers alike. We feel very privileged to carry the gold star marker on our teas.

"At London Tea we have developed an innovative range of speciality teas which are based on classic recipes but we have given them a modern twist by adding some more unusual ingredients."
